Bike Outing

On December 8, 2018, scouts mountain biked at the McDowel mountains. Some scouts road for 12 miles and some road for 22. The trail had may great views of the mountains and of stacked rocks. After the ride the scouts ate a Dutch oven dinner and camped over night.
Arizona Trail Outing
Nov 10-11, 2018
On November 10, 2018, 5 scouts traveled a 4 mile piece of the Arizona Trail. At the campsite, there was an old mine that the scouts could look into. At night, it got down to 21 degrees. Thank you to Mr. Wright for planning this outing at short notice.

White Tanks Outing
Oct 20-21, 2018
On October 20, Troop and Pack scouts drove to the White Tank Mountains for a car camping outing. Activities included hiking to a water fall, such oven cooking, skits, fire starting, and geocaching. Overall, the Outing was a great opportunity for the Boy Scouts to teach the Cub Scouts different outdoor skills.
Keaton Marra Eagle Project

On 9/22/18, Keaton Marra had his Eagle project at Mountain Sky Middle School. His project was to straighten out old railroad ties that were a hazard. The project was successful and the ties looked great.
Colin Steffensen Eagle Project

On 9/8/18, Colin Steffensen had his Eagle Project at St. Mark Lutheran Church. The project was to beautify and improve the playground by replacing the old equipment with new equipment, and replacing the wood chips. Once finished, the playground looked great.

Yearly Planning Meeting
August 18-19, 2018
On August 18th, the troop’s Patrol Leaders Council (PLC), Patrol Advisors, and other troop adult leaders met at Bumblebee Ranch to plan the outings and troop meetings for 2019. This takes a lot of time and discussion to make the troop's activities run smoothly over the next year.
Chicago Basin End of Year Trip
July 11-16, 2018
On July 11, 9 scouts traveled to Colorado to take a steam powered train to the trail head. After a long hike, the scouts stayed at the base camp. Two days later, 5 of the scouts climbed Windom Peak to 14,000 feet of elevation. The next day, the scouts took the train back to Durango to drive back to Phoenix the next day. One interesting part of the trip were the large mountain goats and other abundant wildlife on the mountain.
Greenway Cleanup
June 28, 2018
On June 28th the Gorfs participated in the Greenway Clean Up. Each month our patrols take turns picking up trash along our adopted area of Greenway road. The Gorfs patrol braved the 100+ heat to collect 6 bags worth of trash. We are glad we can help keep our neighborhood looking clean!
Camp Geronimo
June 9-16, 2018
This year’s week at camp Geronimo was amazing. Activities included Merit Badge classes, rock climbing, crayfish catching, horse riding, hiking, and rifle and archery shooting. Some events such as campsite campfires and the Mighty Mogi were not held this year, and there were some fire restrictions, but the 18 scouts that went had a great time. Troop 323 also received another Big G Gold.

Horton Springs Outing

On April 28, 19 scouts went to trail 25 to assist Elliot Hull with his Eagle Project. The scouts raked secondary rock off the trail and made Chanel’s for water. At the end, the scouts ate a lunch of sandwiches.
Horton Springs Outing

On April 21, 10 scouts drove up north to Horton Springs. After a 4 mile hike, the scouts made camp. Scouts had fun by the spring and at the campsite despite the fire restriction. In the end, it was a great beginner hike.
All Saints Church Cleanup

On Saturday, March 10th, Troop 323 Scouts participated in the semi- annual church cleanup at All Saints Lutheran. The scouts raked, swept and cleaned around the church grounds to help beautify the area. Troop 323 is grateful for the amazing support provided by All Saints and we are glad to help keep the church looking great.
Chase Ordog Eagle Project

On March 4, Scouts drove to Superior to help Chase with his Eagle Project. His Project was to move large rocks on to the side of a wash to better mark the trail and prevent erosion. Scouts were educated on how to safely move the rocks and use the equipment. The Arizona Trail Organization thanked Chase for helping them with the trail.

Ski Outing
Feb. 23-25, 2018
This year's 323 Troop Ski Outing was very fun and cold. On Friday night, the Troop drove up to Flagstaff, braving a snow storm that turned the two hour drive to a four hour drive. When they finally reached Flagstaff, they stayed in the Fort Navajo Army barracks. On Saturday, the scouts skied and snowboarded at Snowbowl in 12 inches of fresh powder. A delicious lunch was served in the parking lot, tail-gating style! After a beautiful sunny day on the slopes, everyone enjoyed dinner at NAU. On Sunday morning, the Troop cleaned the barracks then left for Phoenix.
Scouting For Food
Feb. 3, 2018
During scouting for food we put out flyers asking people to donate canned food through BSA. A dew days later we collected all the food. It was a great turnout and it will help many people in need.
Superstition Outing
Jan 20-21, 2018
The Superstition Outing was a fun and cold outing. The eight scouts that were on the hike backed packed seven and a half miles before reaching the campsite. During the night, the temperatures dropped below freezing and covered the tents with ice.Thank you to all who made this a successful outing.
